When I was sitting on the porch last nite with my own black lab so when the cops got here talking to me... I told them I am deaf. I don't speak and hear at all. The cop said that's okay. Just asking me a question if I have seen a couple of black men riding bikes on my street, and I said no. He said ok then please save me a beer. I asked him if he wants a beer? He laughed! No no! I'm just kidding with you!

Because he saw me holding a can of beer outside on the porch! haha!

I do like that cop b/c he almost looked like the movie actor "Robert DuVall".

He was played in "The Godfather" movie also other funny and action movies!

That was a friendly interaction with the police.
Robert Duvall is one of my favorite actors.

True.... I don't understand how many white, philly cops always let me go all the time...

But, some black cops gave me the citation to appear in the court... Good thing, I got dismissed all the time!

The only negative interaction I ever had with the police was when I was 10 years old. I was being bullied in Mt. Greenwood park, so I lost my temper and uttered a lot of profamity and a few threats. The Chicago Police came and took me home to my Dad. I was apanked and grounded for using "....that disgusting hoodlum language...." as my mom put it, but they understood that I was provoked, and not just acting up out of the clear blue.

Ok, then... my grandpa always told me to trust white and philly cops.... not N- cops, u know what I mean? Please understand that my grandpa doesnt have anything against blacks - but, he did have some problem with black people in the old times.

iHaunt, your grandfather, like my father, was raised in an entirely different world then the one we live in. The "N" word was used a lot in my house by both of my parents, and they didn't even think they were bring prejudiced when they used it. I never use it at all, especialy since I became a professional photographer, and since I work at a public Community College.
As for police officers, I have generaly found that most of them, black or white, are trust worthy and basicaly honest. I'm sure there are those few who abuse their authority. Cops are only human, like anyone else, and they are subject to the human condition and human inperfection. Like photographers. I am a pro photographer, but I am NOT a pornographer, and I am NOT a "papperazi" photographer. The sad thing is, that the best photographic artists AND the highest paid, all work for Playboy, Hustler, and other pornographic publications.

Correct. I'm not against any color of people. I love all of them!

Well, maybe old-fashioned time people are still against them now?

theres no reason to dislike people because of their color, there are so many other reasons to dislike people!

I try not to base my opinion one way or the other based on what group people belong to. You can stereotype all photographers as "paerazi," and you would only be correct in a minority of cases. Most of the photographers I knew through out my career are working photo journalists or porteratures like me. I have met some that I COULDN'T STAND, however. One guy was so arrogant it was hard to stay in the same room with him. Another one who I knew, a very foul mouthed girl with a horible attitude also pretty much drove people away from her. To boot, she didn't know one end of the camera from the other, too. She was a LOUSY photographer, and a LOUSY person.
Now if you want to get into ethnic groups, I am an Irish Catholic American. I am very proud of my heritage, both here in the U S and in Ireland, but I must confess I have met more Irish Catholic Americans who I disliked then any other ethnic group. Some of the most 'stuck up" elitists, some of the worst bullies, some of the worst hoodlums have all been Irish Americans, a fact of which I am NOT proud. Now I have also met plenty of people from other ethnic groups that I couldn't stand, too, but it was not their ethnicity that made them what they were. It was their attitude.
Believe it or not, the only ethnic group that I have not met people in it that I couldn't stand, are Gypsies. They come to our town every year at "Harvest Days" time, and I've run into them on the road, and they allways have been decent to me.

Mike, you're Irish. I'm Irish, too. But, on other side of my families some are from England, Ireland, Scotland, Germany, Russia, Spain, France, Wales, etc. Mostly, we do are English, Irish, Hispanic, Scottish and others. The point is.... I do love people of all colors, no matter what! I still don't understand why some people are against other kinds of people!

If they do talk bad about me, my family and friends then we will walk away from them.

Yes, I am Irish. My mom was pure blood Irish, and my father was half Irish and half Scottish. My grandmother on my father's side was actualy born in Scottland. Aberdine Scottland to be exact. My Great Grandfather Anderson was actualy the head carpenter in the local ship yards, and actualy worked on some of the old style sailing scooners.
