I have already prepurchased my copy of Warhammer Online and am picking it up tommorow afternoon. Servers open on the 18th. I am stoked.
I remember when I was gaming console guy. that was untill my brother turned me onto World Of Warcraft last November. W.o.W is a widely sucssesful online game based on the previous Warcraft titles for the PC going back to 1995. World Of Warcraft is steeped in gamer history. My brother got me into W.o.W last November and I leveled my Palidin up to level 60 this year before I decided to park the game for adventures on the high seas in Pirates Of The Burning Sea, another very fun online game.
But if World Of Warcraft is linked to good gaming history, then Warhammer absolutely has its own history book. Warhammer began in the early 1980's as a miniatures strategy board game. Over time the sucsess of Warhammer spawned a far distant future spin off called Warhammer 40K.
Eventually Warhammer would certainly have to hit the personal computer and even consoles with games like Warhammer: Shadow Of The Horned Rat. And now, nearly 30 years since the word Warhammer became a popular name among gamer elites, the online Universe of Warhammer is coming to the PC.
They say Warhammer will be diorect competition with World Of Warcraft. I cannot agree just yet. It is hardly a fair matchup as World Of Warcraft has a three year head start and is setting to release its highly anticpated second expansion, Wrath Of The Litch King.
Still I always like going against the majority and pulling for the underdog so I choose Warhammer online as my next battlefield.
Now if only I can finally decide to fight on the side of Chaos or Order.
