WOW! Laurie Strode!!!! I have to admit that I sometimes scoff at 'off topic' subjects but you really hit the nail on the head with this one!!!
GOOD JOB!

I've always said...... no... wait.... let me first say, having been a musician most of my life, that one of my criteria for weeding out guys I wanted in my band, back in the day, was to go through their record collection (that dates me, I know, but I don't care... it's irrelevent to my point). I figured that a musician was like a 7-11 store. In a 7-11, you can tell what kind of neighborhood you're in by the magazines it has on its shelves. The same follows true for musicians... (blah blah blah.... you can tell what kind of musician he is by the records on his shelf). That being said....

I have learned to APPRECIATE people for what they have on their music shelves (among other things).

So, here goes.....
I have such a affinity for good music I've had to narrow things down a bit here for you. From the earliest moment I can remember, I was infused with great music. My Grandmother was a concert pianist and my Grandfather was a jazz aficionado and believe me.... BOTH were pounded into my psyche: Everything from Zoltan Kodali to Thelonious Monk.
At the age of thirteen, I used what I had been taught and found my own way........

PETER FRAMPTON AND KISS!!!!!!!!

I have learned the secret to good music and bad music and that is there are only two kind of music: Good music and bad music! Blah blah blah! who cares.... I'm getting WAY too into this..... Here's a VERY short list:

Jazz:
(God spoke through...)
Louis Armstrong
Thelonious Monk!!!!!!!!!!!!
John Coltrane
Duke Ellington
Dizzy Gullespie

(and I suppose...)
Miles Davis
Oliver Nelson
Sonny Rollins
(currently....)
Dave Weckl

Classic: (and this is spoken in the modern sense of the idea... i.e. pre 1900)
(God spoke through...)
Mozart
Beethoven
Mahler
Puccini
Wagner
Tchaikovsky
Mascagni

Rock:
(I don't care who spoke through who... These are my top ten favorites!!! .., . OH.. OF ALL TIME....)
Van Halen
Type O Negative
Type O Negative
Type O Negative!!!!!!!
RUSH
MuDvAyNe
Sevendust
Slipknot's first album!!!
Sting and the Police
Tears For Fears!

LORD! THERE'S SO MANY MORE I could list.... you'd get bored!
Let's let that stand for now! :D

I don't have a heck of a lot of music anymore, got rid of a lot of it. I have some soundtracks, and I have some Halloween sound effects records...some Disneyland records...some Depeche Mode, Kate Bush, Peter Gabriel...a Leonard Nimoy album that I listen to more than the other stuff, because it makes me laugh.................

Spooky,
I didn't think anyone besides me even remembered Firefall. :) I found their cd at the Dollar General store and now my 16 year old niece is constantly playing Firefall when she gets in the car.

Yeah Laurie, I listen to Hannah Montana only because my granddaughter is a fan. :) But, she also listens to Charlie Daniels and loves Bon Jovi. So, I am trying to bring her up right.

Hey Dutchess, after reading your list I had an idea. Go to a Starbucks drive through and order a coffee, then pull up to the window with your Dracula Soundtrack blaring in the background, when the person in the window asks if you want cream or sugar say, "No thank you. I drink it black, like my heart!!!! BWHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!"

Then just drive off and don't even take the coffee.

That kid won't sleep for weeks.

Not if she goes to the Starbucks we have up here.
Most of the time, I have to say;"One container, black, no sugar.." and STILL they can screw it up.
Just pause about THAT for a second.
The folks can be SO self absorbed it's nearly impossible to crack through and get them to NOTICE anything. We've tried for years running to get one seller at Halloween. Folks with two heads. Folks jumping out from back seats. BEETLEJUICE THEME going full blast. Blood coming out of (a) hands (b) fingers (c) eyes (d) mouths (e) down windows pointing to STARBUCKS.
Nothing. No where.
They SEE it, but they don't NOTICE..it's like it's another day at the office, serving coffee to these screwballs...my feet hurt. What is for supper tonight...why hasn't Tori Spellings Dad discovered ME??? I'm more talented then his LOSER daughter? Will X-FILES ever come back to the small screen? Is Donny Osmond coming to town this year? Does this apron make my butt look big?
It's got to the point where THEY break US up, and we have to explain to THEM why we are laughing.
"We dressed up to try and scare the lady at drive through but it JUST DOESN'T WORK.."
"Oh, okay..well, she sort of ZONES OUT..."
Really....

Meanwhile, more people I forgot..
