I'd have to say this would be my all time favorite urban legend because it's the only one I found pretty scary! :D

Well, I love that story... I guess I have drive out by the Ressurrection Cemetery many times before... THe willowbrrok was always a fun place to check out...

Well, my uncle lives in NC, he used to make deliveries there, and when it was the Ol' Henry (something like that). ;)

Bloody Mary and the Hook Handed Man are two of my favourite episodes from Supernatural Season 1. They were very true to the old urban legends.... and delightfully creepy when watching at night with all the lights off. =)

This is why I used to be afraid of mirrors.

We used to get up the courage and try it every now and then, even though it'd scare the <deleted> outta me as a kid.

Your mind and your eyes play tricks on you...

Now that I think about it... I did the Bloody Mary thing as a kid (6 or so years old). I never saw anything in the mirror, but my older brother would always poke me and do other things to scare me. I got so scared, my mom went and told me "Bloody Mary" was a drink. I wasn't really scared after that.... looking in a mirror to see a glass of V8. =)

Please don't do that... Knock knock knock the door 3 times, and say "Bloody Mary" 3 times again, then you will see her in the mirror... If so, she will appear in the mirror and you will see her eyes red!

... but V8 juice is just as scary as Elizabeth Bathory!

Actually, if you read the history on Countess Bathory, she wasn't really that vile. (The legend of Bloody Mary is based on the Countess, if you didn't already know.) She did murder approximately 600 young women, but was only convicted on 80-counts (though she was never formally put on trial for her crimes). The rumor was she bathed in her victims' blood... which is why they called her "Bloody Mary".

I hold her with the same reguard I hold Vlad Tepes.... and that is "OooooOh. History rocks!"

It's a good story... but no way can Mary rise from her grave to hurt me-- I'm so not young enough for her tastes anyway! Hehe.

... Now the question that begs to be asked is, if Countess Bathory only killed women, why were you fellows scared of her? =P

Yes, I do remember Elizabeth Bathory, and I do not afraid of her. :D And, don't forget to see the movie "STAY ALIVE" where the kids played the video game to stay alive, or else the Countess will kill them!

One Halloween I heard the local Police arrested numerous young women running around in the graveyard dressed to scare anyone who went looking for that ghost. (Not funny when you wreck your car!) "Boo!" "Crash-tang" isn't nice or very smart!"

I agree that the mind can play scary tricks on you. That's why I wouldn't do it, because I can have quite the imagination at times.

Besides - I'm such a wienie it's not even funny!

Well, some say real and some others say it's only supernatural. Of course, some say countess Elizabeth Bathory is real - but I didn't find the history about her online, and I've seen her in the movie, of course! ;)

And, for Bloody Mary - when you see her, it's fiction!

There are two "Mary" legends that I was told when I was a kid. The first one was Mary Worth, which is based on Bloody Mary, Queen of Scots. Legend has it that if you hold up your hands, stand in front of a mirror and say "I believe in Mary Worth" 7 times, she will appear to you.

The other legend is that of Resurection Mary. Supposedly she rises from her grave at a certain day of the year, but I don't think it's Halloween. The cemetery where she is supposedly burried is in Chicago.

Yes, just like this old post I created shown below:

Real or fiction? You tell me. ;)

I think it's likely just a case of an active imagination or a fream.

Well, that would freak me out, so I hope it will never happen to me! :D

Ok, anyway I got this story from a friend of mine, and he told me it's just an imagination... He has 3 points to prove it to you..

1. When the lady died, her shapeless soul is transferred to another material body such as bird, animal or even a plant.

2. The soul has no identity as Mary or neither as a human. The soul will be part of some other body.

3. If you have seen Mary's ghost, you might have seen ghost of chickens and cows because millions of chickens and cows are ruthlessly killed by non-vegs for just a meal. If you never have seen a ghost of a chicken, then how come you came across a ghost of a human?

So, they're good points - don't you think?
