I'm open to the possibility of ghosts. I have never seen one, not particularly eager for that kind of experience, but, hey, if it happened, I guess I'd think it was kind of neat. After I got over being terrified, I mean.

I absolutely believe in a number of things that are considered paranormal, have had some personal experience with ESP, telepathy, prophetic dreams, that kind of thing. Ghosts are more or less in that realm, I guess.

I was born and raised to believe that every person has a soul that passes on to Heaven, hell or Purgatory when he or she dies, so yes, I do believe in the existance of ghosts, but I do not believe that they actualy hand around here on Earth. I think that paranormal happenings are caused by psychic energy emitted by brain waves of the person who lived and died in the hauted place, or could also be caused by an uclean spirit.

That's why abandoned insane asylums, prisons, hospitals and the like are sid to be haunted. Many people suffered in those places, tha the energy brought on by that suffering is stored up somehow, and is replayed back in the brains of those who are sensitive to it. Older homes and buildings, likewise, have more stored up pshcyic energy then newer buildings do.

It kind of makes me wonder just what exactly the spirit is made of. If the spirit is made up of energy, what happens to that energy?
I understand the idea of "imprinting" a life experiance onto the world that is played over and over again through a cycle, aka that psychic energy. But if the soul/spirit is made up of energy too, then what does that say about the existance of life after death? If it's just an imprint, then the ghosts I think of aren't really real.
If it's not, then ghosts are real.
Now I do think that it's a combination of both things that can cause a haunting. But I'm not entirely sure.
I still remember that chilling voice in the store once that time I was working closing shift at Dollar General, but I haven't heard anything like that since.
Then of course there's the photograph of my grandfather's ghost. But it's quite possible that the camera could have photographed an image of my grandfather's "imprint" so to speak.
This probably seems crazy, crazy, a graveyard theory,
A ghost tried to approach me and got leery.
Ask him a question and he vanished in a second...

That's an interesting story about your grandfather int he photograph. I have no clue, however of what a spirit is "made of." I do, however, think that while thay may reside in Heaven, hell, or Purgatory, that they don't stop loving and caring for those who they are close to, and do on ocassion, try to "visit" or "contact" their friends or relatives who are still living. In fact, I'm sure that some of my dead loved ones have contacted me through various dreams that I had.

One night, shortly after I moved into my house in Dwight, I drempt that I ws in a beautiful room, with the finest wood work I had ever seen. I was lying on a bed, and a man who I recognized as my Great Grandfather Anderson, a man who died YEARS before I was even born, came up to me, tucked me in, and told me "your father still loves you, and still thinks about you, Mike." I woke up shortly afterwards. The next morning I went to my late father's ole photos and slides and I found a slid of Grandpa Anderson with his dog. He was a DEAD RINGER for the man who came to me in my dream. Oh, and he was a professional carpenter by trade, hence the beautiful wood work in my dream.

So just because your grandpa is no longer with you in physical form, that does not mean that he dosn't care for you any more.

I agree with Mike, I have dreams like that too, I have dreamt about my uncle who died when I was young, he always comforts me in the dreams, like he did in life. I think sometimes thats the way the dead talk to us, and no I'm not crazy!!!

I've had only one dream like that, with my mother, about a month after she died. I'd had lots of other dreams about her, both during her terminal illness, and in the days & weeks after the funeral, but this one was different. A real conversation, so normal, but the two of us discussing her recent death and what things were like after death for her. I still don't know if I imagined it, or if it was an actual contact, but it seemed different in--kind--from any other dream I've ever had, before or since.

Like I said, Murfree, your mom may no longer be with you physicaly, but she still cares about you.

I do have a lot of dreams like that. I've dreampt about aunts and uncles, grand parents, and even ancestors who I've never met. I've also dreampt of my late Brother who died because of diabetes.

Shortly after my father died, I did have a very wierd dream that I think was more a 'garden veriety' dream then a ghostly visitation. A couple of the people in it were still alive. I was watching the sun rising in the east, and they were watching two suns setting in the west. We were having a very heated argument, because I was watching the sun rise in the east, and insisted that the sun was rising in the east. I remember feeling very frustrated because my late father and my older sister seemingly refused to listen to me, and they insisted very heatedly that two suns were setting in the west. I saw the rising sun, and I saw the two setting suns, but I wanted only to think and look at the one rising sun. They absolutely refused to even turn around. They just kept yelling and bickering at me that there were TO SUNS SETTING IN THE WEST!!!.

Interesting as it is, I STILL can't make heads or tales of what it could mean. I'm enclined to believe that it was just a crazy dream, but there very could be some meaning behind it.

Guess I'll share a story of mine.

A few years ago I was staying at a friend's apartment. I was lying on the couch in the living room when he walked through the hallway, said goodnight, and turned off the hallway light. As soon as he walked into his room, I saw a faint floating figure in the hallway 15 or 20 feet away from me. I could tell it was a woman, with short black hair down to her shoulders and wearing a white gown (sound cliche?). But I could only see from her chest up, her lower body wasn't there, and I couldn't see her face. She was facing the direction he had gone when he walked into his room, and she stayed there for a few seconds. I closed my eyes and tried to ignore it, but when I opened them again, I saw she was now facing me and she was a bit dimmer. I rolled over and faced the wall, trying to ignore it again, and it worked for a little bit. I started falling asleep when I heard a soft, middle aged woman's voice say "How are you feeling?", and I said "I'm tired, please let me sleep." I woke up because my mouth moved, and I sat up and looked around. She wasn't there anymore.
The next day I told my buddy what had happened, and he looked shocked. I kept talking about it and he actually started to tear up. I asked him what was wrong and he said that moment when I saw the ghost was roughly around the time his mother had died the year before. I had met his mom at the hospital a month before she passed away. She had shoulder-length black hair and she was wearing a hospital gown. She was a very caring woman, the kind that would go out of her way to make you comfortable when she herself was sick or in pain. He said it doesn't surprise him that she asked me how I was feeling.

We talked about it afterwards because I was confused why she appeared to me and not her son. He guessed that maybe it was because I was more comfortable with dealing with ghosts than he was, and she somehow knew that.

I do believe in some ghosts, but not all of them... I only can feel and see the ghosts of my own family relatives, and others where some Indians died around here long time ago... I don't believe in other ghosts like animals, incests, or any living things. Even, some of you have seen in the horror movies are not REAL. But if it was based on a true story, then it can be real.

Funny, I feel like I'm lying if I say if I believe in ghosts, but I feel the same way if I say I don't.
I think my most honest answer is I'm open to the idea, but won't be 100% until I experience it for myself. I'm far too logical sometimes

Miss Monster, a lot of people feel that way. It isn't lieing, you just don't know where you stand. I also never experienced a haunting in the sense that others have experienced. As I said before, the closest I ever came to it was a feeling of sadness and hopelessness when I poked my camere lenze in a broken out window at the Bartonville Insane Asylum. I think the main reason for that was the nature of the place I was visiting, and not anything supernatural, however. I also had the dreams I mentioned above. My belief in ghosts, or in the human soul, to use a better term, is my religion.

Yes, that is exactly what the world is suffering from. An overabundance of logic.
