The Rite (2011)
Summary from IMDB:
An American seminary student travels to Italy to take an exorcism course.
I haven't seen it, but I'd like to... I spoke to a co-worker about the film and they said it was fairly predictable and I should wait for it to come out to video....

Most of Hopkins' work is good, even if it is bad.

Re: The Rite (2011)
Still have yet to see this, and have heard great things about it. I was pleasantly surprised with "The Last Exorcism" and thought that was really well done. I pretty much love Anthony Hopkins has ever been in (Magic, Wolfman, Hannibal, Red Dragon) and think he's perfect for the part.
Please, if anyone could leave a review of it or atleast let me know if its worth buying when it comes out on BDD, thank you in advance.

"The Rite" wasn an excelent movie about the Catholic rite of exorcism, and for once, Hollywood didn't make any derogatory comments about the church or priests in general.

Re: The Rite (2011)
I thought it was a very interesting story. True, it didn't have all the spfx that you saw in "The Exorcist" or other horror classics, but it was a very interesting and plausable story about real priests who practice exocrism and the dangers they face. For once, Hollywood didn't portray all priests as perverts, the church as rife with coruption and religion, in general, to be a social evil. It was a good down-to-earth telling of what really goes on during the Catholic Rite of Exorcism.
I agree that it's not for everyone. It was a little slow moving for some, and it could never hold a candle to "The Exorcit" when it comes to pure scares and shotk value, but it was a very well done docudrama.

Re: The Rite (2011)
Finally ended up seeing this a couple weeks ago. I have to say it was a decent exorcist-genre film. I liked the way the film worked through the whole element of doubt with the fellow who couldn't decide whether or not he wanted to be a priest. It was genius to send him out into the field to learn from a pro.
I have to admit, it was very predictable with respect to which demon was possessing Hopkins' character and also the outcome of the film... but still, a good film to pass away the long night. =)
