Friday the 13th (2009)

I saw this film on its opening night at the harkins Theater in MteroCenter here in Phoenix Az. Because it was the 1010pm showing I gigured I could jump out of my seat with little crowd around me. I was wrong. It was packed. But that's okay. I was not the only person who jumped more times than Frogger.

The new Friday The 13th is in my humble opinion a horror triumph. In a world of bad remakes, this film hit a home run. Jason is still Jason, only faster, and meaner. More realistically he looks to have muscles as a mad survivalist in the woods should have. But the film is a must see and I reccomend it to everyone.

Seeing Jason on screen again was great. I think the guy that played him did an excellent job. As far as F13 movies go it's one of the most well done.

POSSIBLE SPOILER ALERT AHEAD!

I didn't care too much for Jason keeping a girl captive nor did I want to see his little underground hideout and where he supposedly lives. To me the less I know about a killer in these movies the better. I felt the set of his hideout was too overdone. A serial killer cliche.

But like I said it was fun seeing Jason with his machete again. An American icon :)

I'm kind of hesitant about seeing this at the theater, but I guess I'll catch a matinee screening of it.

Honestly, the underground tunneling was an excellent touch. It helps to explain some of the ways he's able to sneak around and pop up out of nowhere. It also speaks to his inteligence.

The girl was captive for one reason only, the one thing that kept her alive. Pamelas necklace. Made perfect sense.

The film is worth seeing in theaters.

I just didn't care for it. She would've had to have water/food etc. I can't see Jason bringing her breakfast every morning. If anything she could've used the old pretend to be his mom trick and told him to let her go and he probably would've.

I prefer him to just appear out of nowhere, kill and disappear again. The not knowing anything about him makes it all the more suspenseful. You start getting too deep into these characters and you end up with Rob Zombie's Halloween, which was a disgrace to the franchise IMO.

It's all a matter of opinion though. Jason is just one of those characters that I feel should just kill. No holding captive, no background history other than his mother/the camp. Just kill. That's what he's done for almost 30 years and that's why everyone knows that mask.

What body count did you get? I think I counted 12 :) I could've missed one or two though.

That's what I figured as well :) I could only count 12 though. Hopefully I missed one.

This is the second scariest thing I've read so far this year; 'That's what he's done for almost 30 years '

I feel soooooo old right now.

I don't think it was a bad movie at all, but I was disappointed because I was under the impression that it was going to be a prequel, or a story as to how Jason became the monster that he was. I didn't know it was going to be a remake, so it was not what I was hoping to see.

I just seen it Saturday. I thought it was pretty good, I thought it was just a little scarier than tha original series.

As for the body count....it was definately 13 but that is not counting what may or may not have happened to the last two people at the end.

Still, I think Jason Vorheese has a very interesting story to tell us about how he went from being this child with Downs Syndrome to being this unstoppable, indestructable killing machine. What makes Jason tick? What made Jason what he is today?

I was really hoping to see the story that happened before Jason became a monster, and before Camp Crystal Lake became a forboding place of murder and mayhem.

I was hoping for a prequil.

I think this movie was okay, and I really didn't care if it's the remake flick. But I do enjoy it. :D

I heard rumors about this movie will come straight to DVD with "Unrated Version" with strong bloody violence, some graphic sexual content, language and drug material. The running time is 97 minutes.

Guess what??? I can't believe it when I read about Friday The 13th Part 2 remake!

A sequel to Friday The 13th remake has been rumored. Yes, that's right! Jason will be back again to slaughter all young campers!

Well, there is still no word whether or not will the director Nispel be back to re-direct this 2nd flick. :?

Overall, I enjoyed it. Not as good as the originals - what remake is - but interesting, frightening, and captivating in its own right. IMHO - Not as good as the Halloween remake, however, because the director didn't take as much freedom with the characters, providing, in a sense, a somewhat different trajectory into chaos! I give it a 6 out of 10

I already added it to Netflix list... I didn't see it when it came out in theaters, but some people say it sucked... some say it's not a remake... it's like mixed part 2 and 3 remake. I don't know what to say.

True, it's more of a reimagining than a remake per se. I would say it's more like F13 Parts 2 & 3 combined. From what I recall, there is also a brief harkening back to Part 1 in the opening credits. You'll see...
