I used to love this when I was little. This is the one that has the talking jack-o-lantern. I have a 2 (almost 3) year old niece and I would love to show it to her but the blasted thing isn't on DVD! WHY?!

Not quite. It's only on VHS as of right now. Someone has put it on youtube though--the quality isn't that great and my little niece gets a little annoyed when the video ends and I have to get up to start the next part. Short attention span

You would think, right?! Here's the link to the VHS on Amazon:

I should just make my own Halloween movie for her with all my favorite parts from movies I loved growing up!

I don't know if you've had kids or not, but Disney is weird about the way they release things. Their premium movies get released only once every 8 or 10 years, I think, so if you miss one that you really wanted, you are SOL until the next time it gets released. Also, some of this "minor" stuff is never released at all, except to some Disney fan club or something. That's what happened with a much-loved movie from my childhood, The Scarecrow of Romney Marsh. It was tied up in litigation forever (author of the original novel wanted more money, case dragged on until he died and his heirs settled). Then, when it was finally released, it was released only to people who had signed up for some club or other. It sold out in three weeks. (I did manage to finagle a copy, after the fact). But Disney stuff can be the very devil to get hold of. Just keep searching ebay, Amazon, classic movie sites, etc.

Oh I know how stingy Disney can be with their movies. For the last year I've tried to track down Dumbo for my niece only to find that the cheapest I could get it for was like, $75 because it was "locked in the vault". So stupid. Luckily, they've just re-released the 70th anniversay edition so I grabbed it immediately! I'm happy that she has just recently taken a liking to Hocus Pocus. She grabbed it out of my collection and asked if she could take the witch movie home
Disney better not throw that one in the vault!!

You know, I have seen Hocus Pocus around quite a bit the last couple of years. I don't know if that one was just over-produced, so it didn't sell out, or if Disney is actually letting it stay around. I know Mary Poppins is one of their premiere movies, yet I still see it in the stores quite a bit. I think they may have produced too many copies of it last time around.

Remember The Legend of Sleepy Hollow? I loved that one too and it seemed to disappear for a while. Then I found it again and it was called The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad. Um, what? How did Mr. Toad get involved? I don't remember that about the one I watched back in the day...

I think those were two short subjects that were combined in one tape/DVD. I have the VHS and it is titled that way, but I bought it for Sleepy Hollow.
BTW, that Disney Sleepy Hollow is actually the most faithful version to the original story, IMO.

I guess I just blocked out Mr. Toad. I don't remember inviting him onto my t.v. anyways

I've got this on my computer. I'll have to see if I can remember where I found it. Stay tuned.
