Costumes you've never done before

Next Halloween in 2009 is quite a ways away. We have a poor economy to consider as well.
It may be too early to be planning this, but I think some people plan their costumes all year. (I saw this show where they evidently did, it was some stupid Regis and Kelly Halloween special, though it was the day after New years so I couldn't understand why they would have a Halloween special on. That's not the point though, some people do have pretty cool costumes, there was one with a guy in an electric chair)
So, how about planning a costume you've never done before for something different next year. I've never been a witch as far as I can remember, I think it would make a fun costume because I have plenty of black clothes and a skirt, and all I'd probably need is the hat, not sure if I want to go for the green skin because to me that's a little cliche.
I also don't remember being a vampire either. (I have been a werewolf before.)
Last year I was a pirate and usually I go as something cat related. One year I didn't go as anything because I had to work.
Sad I know.
In fact, I don't think I've ever gone as a zombie or a ghost or a skeleton or a mummy....most of my costumes havn't been very scary. o.o; Since people seem to care more about the "fad" than the holiday if you will, maybe I should try to be a traditional halloween monster next year. It's still a ways away, and who knows, I may even have to work. In that case I suppose I'd have to have a pre-halloween party or a post halloween party O.o(Though if I'm lucky maybe I'll have a work place that allows you to dress up for halloween XD)
Still got several months to think about it though. Right now I'm thinking more about Valintines day and then St Patty's afterwards.
Edit: I was a witch for a skit before though. XD Just not a witch for halloween far as I can remember XD

I've always wanted to do the full-body skeleton costume. I even bought a great pair of black skeleton gloves with really good glow-in-the-dark bones on them, and I have a ton of glow paint from a project I didn't get to tthis year.
I suppose all I need is a black sweat suit and a black ski mask, some brushes and time...

Well, for me, I really answer say what I would like to wear the costume for Halloween 2009... But in my mind, still bothering to tell me that I have to be a vampire. Even, I had a few nightmares when I was in bed that I turned to be a vampire and going bite several girls who did revenge my life long time ago.
I guess this was all my fault by watching too much vampire/vampiress movies!
Well, I thought I wanted to be Grim Reaper, or Captain Spaulding or Necromancer myself... but never did wear it.
I hope this year Iam still thinking about wearing the costume and staying home to guard my haunt yard displays and also, giving out candies.
My girlfriend wanted to be a vampiress, so she suggested me to be a vampire because we can look perfect couple.
So, what do you say?

To Andybev: There's no time like the present!
To Hauntmaster: Go for it. Heck, perhaps dressing up as a vampire will help you conquer your fear!

... Erm... I must be one of "those people". I started working on my costume this weekend (though I've had the fabric since Labor Day 2008). Well, part of it anyway. I'm making a pirate jacket-- the kind with the big cuffs at the end of the sleeves. It's a dark brown corduroy material. I'm making the contrast for the cuffs and pocket covers from a red suede with some embroidered paisley pattern on it. I'm adding pockets to the pattern because I HATE costumes without pockets... especially when it provides "pocket covers"-- Gah! The jacket's inside lining, which I'm also adding (along with a few more pockets), is a crimson red/leaf cotton print. I've yet to decide if I'm making the buttons functional (I probably will)... and where I'm going to put this 1/4" black and gold cording that I got that's just delightful.
... and that's just the jacket. I've yet to figure out what I'd like to do for the rest of the outfit, specifically the sort of pants. There's an ostrich farm about 50 miles down the road that I am entertaining ideas about swinging by to pick up a feather or two for a hat... but I'm not settled on that either. I also have boots I bought. Yummy.

I like to do homemade kids costumes, I think those always mean more and they are not the same as everyone else's. We have done a washing machine before and it was a big hit.

Liek I said, usualy a pair of vampire fangs pretty much sums up my costume, but I will be looking for some creative ways to decorate my front porch as Halloween 09 draws a little closer.

I'm going to try and go as Altair from the game Assassin's Creed.
Or I'll be Shaun from "Shaun of the Dead"

I've never been a ghost before, but a ghost would be boring for me, a sheet with a couple of holes in it isn't very exciting in my opinion.
Maybe a Ghoul, a Ghoul from the Graves
(See that pun there, that tiny pun, more like a refrence to my name? That was cool, eh?)

When I made my own costumes back when I use to ToT, I often started planning them out on the 1st of October, or sooner. Usualy when the farm stand on the corner of 111th and Central Park would put the pumpkins out, I would start thinking about what I was going to be for Halloween, and how I was going to go about producing the costume. I was no 'master crafts man' nor professional taylor. My costumes usualy consisted of wht I could find around the house (i.e. old cardboard boxes for a robot, or an olt bed sheat and a dog chain for a ghost, etc) and a little imagination, and I often came up with some pretty neat costumes that far outshone the store-bough veriety.

I think the best costumes are not the most popular choices. Think back to your greatest costume memories. The best ones are the head turners. You know. Either funny, gothic, beautiful; whatever the genere. The best ones are the ones people dared to wear.
I would love to be something people talked about for weeks. I have not found thet yet. I am always on the timid side when it comes to myself.
I don't want to scare young children and the elderly, but be a real head turner, Yes; thats what I want.

The craziest costume I have seen so far is Barney with a Winnie the Pooh head. Lolzzz.
I don't know what came up to that guy's mind that he decided to wear that.
I didn't get a picture of it though. Tsksktsk.
