I always have a party the Friday before Halloween and my close friend has hers on Saturday, we call it Halloweekend and have people from all over the states fly in.

Last year I was Willy Wonka and my 6'3" boyfriend was my Oompa Loompa on Friday. On Saturday, I was Cinderella and he was Prince Charming. I make our costumes with items from thrift and craft stores.

In 2008, I'd say the best costumes I saw were Thing 1 and Thing 2 from Dr. Seuss and a super awesome robot costume. People are so creative!

speaking of, i did see a guy dressed up as a creepy willy wonka :) he did a great job! i have no pictures though :(
Last night 'twas witching Hallowe'en
Dearest; an apple russet- brown
I pared, and thrice above my crown
Whirled the long skin; they watched in keen;
I flung it far; they laughed and cried me shame
Dearest, there lay the letter of your name!

My son went as a table lamp. We got a large cardboard we cut out holes for his arms and one for his head. Covered the box with an old table cloth and then put a lamp shade on his head. He was the hit of his costume parade and it was a no stress costume. He came up with the idea and was proud that it turned out so great.

I didn't expect any of my friends to do much when my wife and I hosted our party last year. However one couple showed up as a dead bride and groom they looked fantastic.

They all looked good. I especially liked the Pinhead costume. I've never seen that one attempted before.

he had the black contacts, looked real creepy.

i believe he bought the suit from an effects artist. ($1000) i built all his meat clevers. used my angle grinder to cut em out of 1/8" rusty steel. pinned on some handles and painted some blood stains.

The best costume I saw was one of a kid who used his actual school mascot costume. But that's kind of cheating, since he didn't do anything to get it. I did see a homemade Link costume though, and it was really great.
